    A bigger filter won't extend the oil life. The only thing to do that is Synthetic oil.

    More oil in the system = longer to break down. Running a bigger oil filter will also offer more filtration surface. But it won't have that bigger impact on oil serviceability (it will be a little cleaner at the service interval if anything - it's only increasing volume by a cup/250 ml). If you were going to do something to improve oil life it would be using a remote filter and oil cooler core (I don't know if the remote system really needs a thermostat unless you're in extreme conditions like below zero temps). It's heat that'll break down the oil.

    That's not really the point, these filters have a 30 mm thread on the engine mount and 100 mm gasket. One does not have a choice to use a smaller filter, you must use the one that fits!
