I just bought an 87 2wd SPX with 82k miles.

Hey folks, been looking for a mighty for years, and through some sheer stupid serendipity my buddy found one local him in Iowa. Sitting for 15 years, and its in way better shape than I expected. He managed to negotiate the guy down to $600 on my behalf and then the truck was mine.
Problem is, I'm in New Hampshire, so this is gonna be fun.
My buddy is gonna drag it home and clean it up, do a few things for me on it, and then i'm gonna fly out there, we're gonna bash on it for a few days and them I'm gonna drive it back home.

Anyway I'm super hyped for this, i love these trucks. Its low mileage, very little rust (Especially compared to anything you can get in NH), and a great blue interior




im certainly no stranger to 80s junk, so im excited to get this thing back on the road after 15 years.

It'll get some modification soon enough, I'm looking into the possibility of using crown vic knuckles up front, maybe with the control arms too, add the extra pivot mount to the frame. lighten and stiffen the front suspension and convert to 5 lug in one shot.
I have long term extended plans to do an IRS conversion on the truck with an RX8 rear subframe, but that wont be for a while.

Have some fun renders i worked on with my buddy.
mk1 vw cabriolet clipper bumper, Mk2 vw bumper, and gen 1 crx bumper, as well as the wheels I have sitting in boxes in the basement, new old stock.
It may or may not be your style, but im excited about it, and im here to share it with everyone.

Trucks getting picked up this weekend.. got the revival parts ordered. oil, carb kit, shocks, wheel cylinders, fuel pump, filters, plugfs, wires, cap/rotor, strut rod bushings, etc. Whole bunch of stuff coming from rockauto.

My buddy pulled the lock cylinder out and got a key cut.



Then proceeded to futz around for an hour or two, hooked up a boat gas tank to the carb, and started it up, after 15 years of sitting.




Pretty hyped for this, this is way too easy. I've had mostly euro cars until now, with one exception (NA Miata), and I gotta say, I'm digging this whole japanese car thing.

Just giving a quick update. Not a lot going on with the truck until springtime, it's still sitting at my buddy's place. I've been gathering parts and stuff. Picked up a set of nissan frontier 4 spoke wheels, some spacers, and some new tires, as well as a few boxes of revival parts from rock auto. Wheels are temporary until I do a proper 5 lug conversion, but may as well look good in the mean time.
We're getting deep into the cold and shitty at both places, and i dont want to risk getting stranded on the way home in the winter, so I'll make the trip out to drive it home in spring. In the mean time its just going to sit.

The wheels look like they were taken off of a frontier when it was new and stored. they show marks from lug nuts and tires, but virtually no sign of use. got the whole set for 100$ They're relatively high offset so i had to also get some spacers for them, and they need shank lugs so i have to order a set of those too. Bought a set of 205/55-16 tires for them. Should fit pretty well if i did my math right.
