if it is limited slip then its a good find![]()
yup that truck should have a limited slip differential, which is not too common. Congrats, tons of people(me included) are always on the look out for them.

Well I just put a call into mitsu to see what they can find for us in the line of decoders and other manuals. We will see what they come up with.
They just sent me a fax that will decode from
1983 - 1992
1993 - 1996
1997 - 1999
I'll get them up asap.

Yeah, welcome to the LSD club, oh wait, that doesn't sound good, uhmmm, well. Anyway a Limited Slip Differential is a type of differential that uses clutches to keep one wheel from spinning and the other one from not moving at all when you get stuck, it allows the diff to slip enough so when you turn corners in rain you dont get sideways on every corner. If you have ever been four wheeling you may know that when you get stuck unevenly one for the front wheels will dig while the other just sits helpless and the opposite side rear digs and does the same thing, well a limited slip will use clutches in the rear differential to HELP keep it from doing that, it is not like a locker and sometimes you may get in a situation where the LSD may not work, for more info go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limited_slip_diff
Or this site has good info http://www.drivingfast.net/technolog...m#.T-k2xZHNkxE
OK I put up the decode sheets in the manual section.

The only way to tell if it's a LSD is to jack up 1 wheel and try to turn it with the truck in neutral.

Awesome thanks and I'll have to check soon to find out if it does.
So the mm has some low production numbers does that include the d50 or no?
The info came from Mitsubishi Motors when I inquired about production numbers to be able to race in a Production Class requiring PROOF of over 500 manufactured . The file they sent me was for Truck Sales History with 2 Tabs, one for 2WD and one for 4WD, no other breakdown.
Inferring from that, I would say it only included Mitsubishi Sales, not Dodge.
Jacked the rear up. Both wheels turn the same direction when turned
Nice , you have a lsd rear end. Congrats
honestly I dunno what difference it will make for me .. I drive A LOT of gravel roads.. and yeah I plan to play around in the mud... a little... but it's a DD...
Sooooooooo?! I'm a noob to this but if I get the gears I need for 33"s will I still be able to keep my LSD or will that have to come out...
also I've been searching CONSTANTLY.. and can only find gears from the v6 Montero's... what gives ?? and I've yet to find front gears
You will keep the LSD and only have to have the gear set changed. It will make a difference.

If you really want a great off roader, or a very capable street truck, get an lsd from a starquest (starion/conquest) tsi widebody car and install is in the front diff when you put in the front gears. Then you have both axles with lsds installed

hey on the metal tag in the bay that has the engine code under it it says trans axle with km"something" and the numbers 4222 does that mean that's my gearing?? I thought they all pretty much had the 3.909
sooo power steering, a/c (been removed) lsd and maybe 4.222 ?? IF thats correct does that mean I have a truck that was uncommonly equipped?
On my truck (being an automatic) it says KM148 3909, so yes you have a 4.22 rear end with a LSD
