I,m looking at a set of bucket seats for my mm out of a 95 rodeo, ill keep you all updated
Was going to get my seats today but it's pouring down rain:shakehead:
I used some 1gA dsm seats in mine for a bit. They sat to low for my taste, maybe some suv style seats will be better. Pics.
Rain yesterday, now snow today !!!! will the weather ever end:(
My buckets came out of a 98 Dodge Stratus and they are insanely comfortable. Check out my pics to see what they look like.

All I store behind my seats is this truck sub box that has a JL Audio 8" sub and the amp bolted to the back wall. As you can see there is plenty of room for an even bigger sub. I ride with my seat all the way back on the rail also since I'm a little over 6' tall.
What rail did you use?
you guys must really appreciate living in better climate !! Its been raining and snowing all week,so no seats yet:bang:
LOL whats the problem...... winter is the time to build your ride for the 3 weeks of summer here in Canada
I just got over a nasty cold, and felt like death warmed over !! And my old bones cant take the cold like they used to:lmao: but my main thing is hauling them back home ,and putting them in [ hint rain & snow] if it wasn't for that id have them in my truck by now:shrug:
even tho I hate working in weather below 65*F, what u said is true..if u have a garage! I dont right now, so it sucks for me. LOL and winters are horrible in canada. i have family up there and so they say
i think u gotta move out here and enjoy our snowless 3 months of winter and nice weather for the majority of the year
The cost of living here in this part of Va is so cheap, compared to cali I can deal with a few months of bad weather, because summer will be here soon, and the money i save can go into my truck:devil:
Now since the seats i'm getting are light grey , and my interior is blue , should I add grey to my interior or just have the seats covered in blue ????:bang:
I would suggest dying them
Yeah that wil work, but im 300 miles from the guy who does my dye work
I've always dyed mine myself its not bad IMO
Well your headliner and a-pillars are grey already right? Might as well just add some more grey around
Bad luck on my seats, they wont bolt up,:bang: even though a forum member said that they are a direct fit !! i even dyed them my color:shakehead:
Mine are out of a mid 90s rodeo. I got them from handismurf. Not sure how often he's on anymore. They arnt modified much. Drilled different holes thru the front rails, the backs on the outsides bolted right in, the centers have 1inch pieces of tubing to space them up a bit. Just longer bolts were needed
Thanks on the info,I will see what I can do once we get movedAttachment 4407
this is what they looked like before i dyed them
They look the same as mine. If u want me to send u some pics, send me your email. I have some on my phone, no access to a computer at the moment
Email addy sent to bobsnewdirection
I sent what I had. If u want some closer ones I can get them tomorrow for u.
It will be sometime this weekend before i will have time to take my bench out again and try to put them in . My biggest concern is they sit too far forward, and I'm 6'2'' tall,so they really need to be back as far as possible:bang:
I am 6'6 and a sixth of a ton(last time I weighed myself i was 333.3). I love being a giant although the cab of my truck does get a bit uncomfortable after a long drive
mine sit farther back then the bench, but they are really low. it actually makes for less leg room because you are almost straight, before had knees bent. i dont drive my mitsu far so i didnt notice til i took it to jersey shore and back in one night. 300 miles in a cramped space sucks
My bench sits all the way back against the rear of the truck, and i have plenty of leg room, but when I tried to install the buckets they sat way up close to the dash:shakehead:
These are the seats I'm using in my MM. They came off a Mazda B series Truck.

Look at the thickness of the seat back when looking at the seats - that will determine the distance you have for leg room. Thicker seat back = less legroom. Fiero seats work well space wise, but suck on long trips.
The brackets just wont let the seats slide back far enough, and the seat backs aren't thick at all,but I will not mess with them until after we move back to central VA next weekend
When the rain stops,I will be trying to get my buckets in:clap:
I will be looking at a console whenever I get my buckets:thumbup:
Measured my buckets seat rails, and they are the same size at the bottom, but my bench is 2" longer at the top ,which allow them to slide back further???
Just use your bench seat rails on one and see how it fits.
I'm sure someone here has an extra set, just ask around. I got mine here. You can also check the salvage yard.
I removed my bench today, and took off the seat rails, and it appears that all I will need to do is drill one hole to relocate a bolt and I'm finally in business:devil:
That sounds about right. The front door sides on my seats are drilled out and notched a little bit to hit the old seat location. I have large washers on my bolts holding the seat down.
Mine bolted right up, no drilling required.
Are the bolt ups different between first and second gen? I'd love to put buckets in my first gen.
I'm 98% sure the sliders never changed. So it should work. I don't know about the width of the seat.
I am calling bs on the 95 rodeo seats that shit did not fit anything. Ispent all day yesterday afternoon trying to get them in. what eles might fit in a mighty max.
If there is a direct bolt up ill let you know heading to the junk yark on monday to try out a few more things i saw on other forums
ill let you know
Handismurf, and bobsnewdirection both have the rodeo seats in their pickups ! If you use the sliders off of your bench seats, you will see that they bolt up !! just look under your carpet and you will see the factory holes already drilled for the buckets
http://www.mightyram50.net/vbulletin...1&d=1340139377 They look like they fit pretty good in Bobsnewdirection truck !!!:slap:
I tried several times the width was way off. I got the 2 sets of tre rails. I thought they bottled right up. I have a base 89 mm. Nothing lined up.
seats out of a 1991 eclipse, 1997 honda accord seats, and 1998 dodge stratus if anyone has tried these or know. I found them on another forum so i will be heading to the junk yeard tomorrow to see if they work. Ill post pictures of the rodeo seats i tried. Let me know what I did wrong.
I have changed seats in Geronimo so many times over the 32 years I have owned him I lost count. I have used the stock rails, cut the mounts off the stock rails and remounted them to the new seat rails, and made new mounts to adapt the seat tracks to the original mounting holes. He currently has a set of 6 way power seats from a 1991 Dodge Monaco sedan, which was formerly an Eagle Premier. I made new rear brackets and used the front from the original seats, but slotted them to fully line up.
Your brackets shipped this morning, estimated delivery on Monday
looks like there's been a lot of trial and error in regards to this.. im curious now. any updates?
You get this done yet?
I just pick up a set of buckets for my truck now when I get some free time I need to install them
Attachment 4797
Got em for 60 bucks off of CL
I give up !!!:shakehead: I tried again today, and the seats sit too far forward, and my head is 2" from the roof, so i'm just leaving in my bench
Take some pics of your seats, that sounds crazy because I feel like I'm almost on the floor. I can't believe they sit so high.
I used the factory seat rails, and they wont allow it to go back as far as my bench does, i will take some pics this weekend and post them
When I finally start on the 86 ram 50, I will do a step by step pictorial on how to put the seats in these trucks. I will even make some drawings of adaptors that you will be able to make to get the seats in the right position for your needs. I want to see all of you get these seats in correctly and safely, after all I want to see you enjoy your trucks, not hate them.
^ im gonna try something here when Im done dropping da motor back in my truck.. Ima see if I can fit a pair of older Benz seats in my truck.. I have 2 older Benz's and those seats are sooo damn comfortable. I'll see if I can fit them.
Sorry bout the pics, we have no internet, so we have to ride to town to get wi-fi
The rails for the 1st and second gen are almost identical, the only difference is in the mechanism that makes the seat slide. They are interchangeable, the bolt pattern length and thread in the cab is the same.
A friend of mine is gonna fab of some brackets to make the buckets fit
After all of this time ,I finally go my buckets installed with minor farbrication of the brackets, and drilling and tapping new bolt holes close to the transmission humpAttachment 5615:clap::grin:
Looks good!
didnt have to drill thru floor, just the brace on the top of floor
When the bench finally died in my '90MM I put in some 2nd gen Honda Prelude seats I had from a parts car. I just used a generic mounting kit and the factory rails from the parts car and bolted them to the floor.
Now after reading this thread I'm going to see if the Prelude seats will mount up to the MM bench rails for my new '93MM. :)
any word on this? and i thought '90 and '93 MM rails are same, no?
my bench is gettin on my last nerves, im gonna burn it i swear! :shakehead: lol plus I have a extra pair of 5th gen seats from a lude and i'd like to put those in if they work.
I changed my mind about using my Benz seats cuz they're leather and summer is a bishhh w/out AC in this thing plus leather dnt help in this Cali heat..
I'm not sure what you are asking.
From reading this forum, I would be comfortable saying that the saet rails are the same across the generations of the truck.
I just wasn't smart enough to figure out to use them when I installed my seats, which seems such and obvious answer now.:(
Using the 'universal' mounting kit was a PITA. I easily mounted each seat a dozen times, cutting brackets and adding washers and spacers, trying to get the seats to sit straight and level. :(
When I go seat hunting, I usually look in the celica, or neons, and other sporty small cars. I look for a low styled seat because I don't like sitting up to much on the wheel. Make sure the seat hinges both directions and you get a good slide from the rails. Get a tough tweed fabric and try to stay away from valure or crushed corduroy because its hard to clean and gets dirty real fast. Look also for darker color seats, again, dirt can make a new seat look old fast. Our wrecking yards sells a pair of any seats you find for only about $14 to $17 for the pair. At those prices, you can find your carport collecting seats very quickly.
These are old IROC buckets that are being replaced soon while my truck is down getting rebuilt.

Bring a tape measure with you also. You can fudge an inch or so by bending the rail legs or remounting the rails. They don't always have to be a direct fit to make them work. Find your favorite seats and make them work.
they just needed to have a few holes drilled because the seats didnt match up with my holes in the floor so new holes and shortening the front brackets and re-welding them solved it all
Brad,
Where did you get that console..Nice! I want one!! and buckets! I have new HP seats for the M3, so was going to recover the Vaders with cloth, and use them in my MMAx..the console would REALLY make it a nice and more modern, usable interior! Nice job OP on seat install!
Someone asked about first gen buckets install. My bought new in 1984 Ram 50 TD sport had buckets (VERY NICE and comfortable ones too, by the way!) Maybe find a pair and recover them? Some on here are parting a few out, tho not sure about seats...
