So I need to get the a/c fix in my 1989 mm. It's to dang hot in my town 102..
I need to know where the Orifice tube is that. They say mine is clogged up.

These trucks don't have one. They have a dryer located behind the grille.

yes they do have one - it is on the evap coil where the high pressure hose connects to the evap box. the system won't work without it - the oriface is what makes the refrigerant expand and absorb heat

That's under the dash right? Well behind the glove box?

The first gens used a TXV thermal expansion valve. Not sure about the second gens. But the TXV was at the fire wall. If it uses an Orifice tube it will be in the high side line right where it connects to the evaporator.

I was thinking of the in line tube filters that the GMs used. Thermostatic Expansion Valve doesn't = Orifice tube to me lol The cooling box is easy to pull out of either model truck and the TXV should be on the back where the lines come into the evaporator.

Okay thanks guys.
One more question. I bought a new receiver drier, as i was installing it. I seem one side is a 5/8 (left) and the other side 9/16 right. On the old drier both sides are 9/16 6149

you need the drier with the right fittings - don't think they have adaptors for those...

R134 or R12? If your going with R134 it is roughly 85% of the amount of R12 that was used. If not mistaken I think close to 32oz?
MIGHTY MAX
Year Model Refrigerant ounces oil type ounces
1994-1996 All Engines R134a 28.00 PAG 46 7.75
