Postby minimitz » Thu Jul 01, 2010 11:35 am

ok well my 90 mighty max (my baby) has been goin through a rough time. got broken into a couple of weeks ago. smashed out my windows windshield etc. completely destroyed my passenger door and the side of my cab. soundsystem stolen. ha heart wrenching right. well on top of that now my trucks running like crap. when i go to start it everymorning and here and there through ou the day it just turnns over and i keep turrning it till i get a sputter. normally stays on for a second then dies. i keep doing this till get it goin. i have to pump the gas a lil to get it goin and when i do it reeks of gas in my cab and some other chemical smell. it starts back firing and slowly calms down to an idle. when i take off it wants to doe like its out of gas. untill i get movin then it just runs crappy. bogging every now and then. it seems to suck a lot of gas now too. im not sure what this is from. fuel filter maybe? fuel pump i dont know. does anyone have an idea? i think its time to garage it and find a bucket dd

Well it definetly sounds fuel related. Id go ahead and do a fuel filter for the hell of it. May be some kind of carberator problem. Not really sure.

It could be the wiring to the ECM loose from the stereo "ripout"; the ECM is on the pass side of the cab, i think. Or the caps in the ECM are bad, see the link for more info: http://www.technomotive.com/howto/ecu1g/caps.htm

It sounds like some one is pissed off at you. A normal thieft would do a smash and grab on one side. But for them to just trash the shit out of the truck makes it personal. As for the other smell. pull the fuel cap and smell the tank. They might have put somthing in there. IE: Diesel, piss in the tank, Suger, used engine oil, that would smoke. antifreeze, muriatic acid is a favorete of mine. Drain the tank and put in 5 gal of fresh fuel. Some one is out to f---k with you hard. If I was you I would look close to who you call a friend. Get a camera and hook it up. They will be back. This time with a road flair. Sorry to here about the problems.

And get a locking gas cap - and a locking chain for the spare wheel.

And to add to it, on your bogging down problem, my Mighty Max was having similiar problems when I first got it. It would start up and run well but if you gave it any gas it would bog down and start sputtering. After changing ALL the sensors, ECU, Distributor, O2 sensor, spark plugs I finally figured it was fuel related. So I had injectors cleaned and changed fuel filter. No go, dropped the tank and I had rust in it bad, had tank drained and coated, new fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator. It now runs like a top, except for new knockin noise and smoke(Lifter, pushrod, valve?). I would definetly drop the tank out, you may be surprised what you find. Best of luck.

yea definately have haters. ever since i got my truck two years ago ive had people constantly denting scratching etc.. really frustrating when i spend everydime i have on my truck trying to make it nice just for idiots to ruin it. but thats how it is where im from i guess.. man i feel like ill never get my truck back to how it was ill post pics of all the damge later... on another note i changed my fuel filter(note dont have your face under it when your unscrewing the lines) lol and it seems like it really helped with the starting but it still seems to bog even die for a minute or so.. then keeps goin fine.. ecu fixes are exspensive right.. and fuel pumps are a pretty penny. how much is it to have my gas tank coated if its rusted inside? looks like its gonna be a while before my truck looks decent again :(
