i got the 4d56 glow system wired in, but i needed to switch out the ignition switch as the new one has 6 wires and the old one only has 5. as far as i can tell the extra wire is an ig 2 terminal which controls the glow system, and when the key is turned past start, held and the released back to start and then on, the engine starts perfectly. if i sue the onld ignition, theres no such option and the glow plugs are never used, which means engine just turns over for a long time. my main problem with this new system however, is that i cannot get the engine to turn OFF! using both ignition switches, when turned to the off position, it remains running. i have to unplug the connector at the pump, and it cuts out immediately. anyone have any ideas about this? the wiring has been a huge ordeal, i had thought the vehicles glow system and starting systems would be a little more similar, but i never was able to dig up a wiring diagram for the imported engine. anyone have any idea about why the engine wont turn off now?

Does it try to die but just diesels? Or it doesnt even slow down, just continues to fire?

i was thinking maybe i need to separate my grounds for the solenoid fuel cutoff and control unit , and relays, since i have them all grounding together on the body...

A ground is a ground. They will not fight each other to try to ground. That isn't the problem!

what if something wasnt grounded that needed grounding? i am just confused as the vehicle starts fine, and there isnt a drain on the battery when its off. i would think that if the fuel solenoid was stuck in the "open" position, it would draw power. ive been searching the internet all day for wiring diagrams but so far have come up empty handed.

Goto harbor freight and get a $2 multi-meter and start prodding... you'll find it.

Browsing your post on 4x4wire, about how it will never shut off. I know good ol Tye said when diesels get ran down (granted I saw your motor has 78000) they wont shut off b/c they keep running of the oil on the bottom end perhaps that is the cause have you noticed it using any oil? Perhaps its the ignition in/on the column thats went bad.
