I have three battle buddies stationed there....trying to check on them.

But as far as MY opinion and not that of the Army, I am aggrivated! First, many deal with stresses in different ways. Second, there is probably more to the situation than the devil aka media is providing. I don't trust the media and will never talk to them. They have a way of twisting your words to work angles with ratings as their interest. So to hell with them. But as far as the accused, it is a shame that no red flags were flown sooner that could have prevented this (but media says there might have been some warnings). But he's an officer, so I don't deal with them too much unless I have to. As an NCO, it is our job to know our soldiers and look out for them. I would know when the stress is too much for them and I would handle it. But soldiers are people too...just like the general public (which some civilians seem to forget) and they make mistakes. So sometimes a person slips threw the cracks. But when a soldier does it, it gains that much more attention to the public. We're supposed to be "on our best havior" or "represent the service/country/unit/etc" at all times. Add to that that we deploy to Iraq, Aghan, etc where people want to kill us....yeah, there is stress there. But killing your brother and sisters at arms is NO WAY to take out your frustrations.

He is of Jordan descent and born in Virginia. We have soldiers in our ranks often with similar backgrounds that perform as any American will. But there are those in our ranks that discriminate against others. I see it far too often. The devil aka media states he joined in 1997 and started reporting having problems after 9/11 with people giving him a difficult time. So I can see that. But still, just shitty situation.

yea johnboy, i know what you mean. i too served for 7 yrs army reserve but none the less served. i try not to get caught up in the media either but i hear he was on web sights saying some bad things about us soldiers dying in Iraq being like a suicide bomber.......not too sure what to think about that. by the way it is being told is there were several red flags up and he was already under investigation so,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,why did he slip thru the cracks. i also hear he hired a lawer to try and get out of the military too. which is odd since he was recently promoted to major in june????? ya know the oc's got it made. and major to boot.

I think it's suicidal to let Arabic's serve in our armed forces, but hey...Bush did jack shit when 911 happened. The guy's background from Jordan...not Iraq or Aghan. He's american just like the rest of us. About the statements of the investigations, I don't know who to believe now days. The guy was fucked up. Point blank. It happens everyday with some sick fucker killing, raping, or fucking it up. It sucks when one fucks it up for many!

As far as the comments regarding who belongs in an Army uniform. Let me say that we have an issue. In Iraq we have translators that are local nationals. We had a good one...but some of the others, I don't believe have our best interests. The translators were from all over including Jordan, Africa, Iraq, etc.

The Army has MOS/jobs for Arab speaking soldiers. Translator and Cultural Advisor positions. The good thing about these American US Army soldiers is that they can tell when a local national translator isn't translating exactly what he should. They also have the US and the Army in their interests. Not exactly the case at all times with some paid foreigner! And last but not least, when shit hits the fan, they have our backs in combat. Having a translator in your humvee is like babysitting. You have to keep them safe. A soldier is armed and if properly trained, they'll fight alongside you!

So ask any soldier that is mature and not arrogant, they'll tell you the same. They are valuable assets on the battlefield. So lets focus on the real problem...and not frustration hate towards people. That's why Arab people are suffering here to begin with.

Violence All Too Familiar at Fort Hood

A mass shooting Thursday at Fort Hood in Texas was the latest in a series of violence incidents at the military post in the past two years.

In September 2008, a 21-year-old Fort Hood soldier shot to death his lieutenant during a confrontation at his off-base apartment before turning the gun on himself.

The lieutenant and a staff sergeant went to the Army specialist's apartment, and a confrontation ensued. Killeen police officers responded to a call of a man with a gun, and they saw the specialist hit and then shoot the lieutenant as they arrived at the scene, Killeen police spokesman Carroll Smith said.

Two months later a New York parolee with an extensive criminal record was executed for robbing, raping and fatally shooting an Army medic at her apartment near Fort Hood.

Denard Manns, 42, who came to Texas after a second prison sentence in New York for armed robbery, was condemned for the murder 10 years ago of Michelle Robson, 26.

In July of 2009, Fort Hood Spc. Armano Baca was charged with murdering fellow soldier Spc. Ryan Richard Schlack from Wisconsin.

Baca and Schlack were members of the 1st Calvary Division and had recently returned from tours in Iraq.

Schlack was shot during a party at the Central Texas Army post and died at a Fort Hood hospital July 18.

Three months ago Spc. Jared Lee Bottorff was charged with murder after a shooting at a party near the post.

At the time, police said Bottorff and another soldier was at a party at house when a fight broke out and someone was shot and killed.

Bottorff was jailed on $1 million bond.

Wrong buddyI agree with your part that his original mission was not to do this But...... It's the fact thAt the Muslim people will die for god. Look how fucked up they are. They commit suicide right and left to kill other people. He couldnt live with the fact that he was getting deployed to kill his own people.
