My Max Truck

Postby Sledgehammer » Tue Jul 28, 2009 8:57 pm

When I first got my 86 MMM, The engine was apart in the truck bed and the truck was covered in mold. I then bought a 2WD runner, but had to haul the trash that was in the truck bed. What the hell, it had a nice G54B engine.
My Max, Cleaned up an running.
Image
Then found out that the Max front end was full of bondo, And the doors would open when they wanted to. So I pulled the front end off and swaped it out with the 2WDs.

While I was at it I removed the plastic inner fenders and trimed the leading edge of the body. Bigger tires are in the works soon.

Didnt have a good front valance, like a 4X4 would have one. So I removed the end caps from the front bumber and removed 4" from the front fender.
Image
So it is now coming together.

At this point my Max was together and running fine, It also became my company truck. This meant it was time for some tunes. Mounted my Pioneer DEH-P550MP head unit in the console where the gadges used to be.

This feeds my Audio Control 4XS cross-over unit. Then to my Sony 504XM 200W amp. The Interconnects from head unit to amp is Monster Cable. All other interconnects are Rockford twisted stelth. Speaker wire is 14 gadge. I also installed my Pioneer 12 disk changer while I was at it.

The door panels are 1/4" MDF with 3/4" MDF lower panels that have been screwed/glued together. Then sealed and painted till I deceid what I want to cover them with. The doors have 1 layer of Dynamat extream on the inside of the outer door skin and 1 layer under the door panels. The speakers are Rockford 6 1/2" and Pioneer tweeters mounted flush.
Image
Power wire is Rockford 2 gadge with 100 Amp circut breaker.
Image
Since my factory gadges where now gone, I installed Auto-Meter pro-comp ultra lights on the window piller with a modified pod.
Image
Factory tach didnt work so in went a Auto-Meter 5" Monster tach.

At this point I needed to get my truck one color. Wasnt really ready for a full on repaint, We sanded the Max down, Pulled most the stuff off and shot it in a dark blue. This fall it will get a real repaint, but I still have some body stuff I want to do first.
Image
Image
We also painted the frame and the inner wheelwells with a direct to metal black semi-gloss paint. Will be doing more of this..

I also replaced the dash pad with one I found at pull a part that was in perfect shape and the same color, also grabed the sun visors and other interior stuff.
I will soon be installinf 2 10" Rockford subs with 2 Kenwood mono block amps. Also have a 1 farad Cap and some other goodies to install. Lots of plans for my Max truck....
