    4d56 engine questions

    new member to this forum but mm lover for long time ...i`m involved on a project swap...putting a JDM 4d56 mitsu engine and 4wd tranny on a xtra cab 88 ram 50...i will like to chang my timing kit ...but not sure is this kit are aviable on usa...see some from australia and uk...not sure of the year of mi engine...i been reading about this 4d56 and looks they are in production since the 80...any way to determinate the age...or maibe teeth count on the belts?...

    Why change the pulleys out? If it worked for all these years then it should be fine to keep using. I haven't see many things you can change on them engines.

    i happened to change a snapped balancer belt (along with the cam belt of course) on a 4d56 fitted in a van of my relative few days ago. funny thing is that the engine vibrated like hell when the belts are replaced and i dont know why. all timing marks for all sprocket were right on the spot. as per the snapped balancer belt, it seems that it was broken months (or years) ago without my relative noticing it prior to his purchase of the van. i just adjusted the idle speed then with my "seat of the pants".

    The balancer bearings are shot and If you do not fix kiss the engine goodbye as you loose tons of oil pressure there.

    Yours is UP TO '93. Older than '93 parts will work.

    Mike I call you couple time but not answer..we talk on the phone before about the 4D56 that I doing on my ram50 .... engine is done already...still looking for a turbo setup....
