    Short Throw Shifters ???

Well, since I'm a newbie, I'll ask a Bunch of questions ! LOL

Short Throw Shifter ??? Anybody make one for our trucks ???

If not ,,, Can anything be adapted from one of the Mitsubishi sporty cars perhaps ?

It's a mod I want to do anyway, but also my current shifter is very floppy.
I'd like to tighten it up, so it's gives Much crisper, detent style shifts.
But I'd also like a much shorter throw ,,,

So it's find an aftermarket or adapt a good one.
Or fix mine, and maybe put some sort of cut down piece on there.

Any help would be Most Appreciated !

Find a short throw shifter for a starion as they use basically the same tranny and shifter setup. I don't know if you can still find them(if so let me know where) so you might have to find a pic of one and modify the stock one like it. Wouldn't be too hard

Do we Know For Sure that these will fit ???

I wrote a guy on the Starion Forum who bought all the rights and tooling and is about to remake
the Stedebani Short Shifters for the Starion/Conquest guys.

I asked him the same question ,,, about if they will fit / work for our applications.
I'll let you know when I get his response.

If they will work, maybe we get get in on his group purchase.

If you get the stedebani shifter, you have to be sure that you have the aluminum spacer that goes between the shifter and the top of the tranny. I have one on Geronimo and I cut the spacer down to match the base of the shifter so that it didn't hit the tranny tunnel when the tranny twists under torque load. If the base of the shifter is not a 3 point mount with an aluminum spacer block - it won't work, as the shifter on a starquest mounts differently on the tailshaft than the truck, but the shifters themselves are the same

    Good to Know !

Someone else mentioned the Starquest mounting also, it being 4 bolts, and ours being 3.
Maybe in the meantime, I'll look for just the shifter shaft inself.
At least that way I can at least get a shorter shifter (if not a shorter throw) that still looks OEM and not hacked up.

But I Did order a New Shifter Bushing for mine, so maybe that will take some of the slop out until I can find a nicer shifter.

I've recently heard of the Mookeeh Shifter. Anybody know anything about these ???
If they have an application for our trucks ???

that is the 4 bolt shifter for the starquest tranny - won't work. I will try to get some pics up to show the difference between the 2 trannys and how the shifters mount.
