    New AutoPal Lights

Just received my new AutoPal headlights!

For those of you unfamiliar with these, they're sealed beam replacement lights. Not like those crappy ebay ones that scatter light everywhere. These are on the same level as Cibie's, Hella's and IPF's.. But they're a bit cheaper. They have an all metal housing, glass lens, E-code beam pattern, and replaceable H4 bulbs.

Can't wait to get these puppies installed. Will have more pics and comparison shots soon. For the time being here's a sample of the difference on a Jeep.

OEM style Sylvania light (one headlight)

    AutoPal's (Again, only one headlight)

You can see there is a nice consistent wide angle beam pattern with a flare on the right to help illuminate the right hand side of the street where side walks and such would be located. This is what is known as "E-Code" or European Code.

Cost? If not too expensive- I'd definitely consider buying a pair of these plus a 55w 5000k Raptor DDMTuning kit for low beam only to match my 5000k Hella 500 driving lights.

They only cost $40 shipped, you can get them from this ebay seller here: http://stores.ebay.com/autopallights

The seller also has free form lights or "Diamond Crystal" lights as he has them listed. From what I've read on countless other sites, they don't have that great of an output. I don't condone putting any form of HID's in a halogen designed reflector, but if you're insistent and won't consider a projector retrofit, then these are a great alternative.

The only reason I would consider it would be because of the Euro cut off. (Which might change with the different bulb) My Hella's pattern didn't change from H3 to HID

If you're looking for that "euro" cut-off line, then projectors are the ONLY way to go to achieve that:

Ditto, if you want the cutoff line then you need to do a projector retrofit, which is pulling your headlights apart and installing an actual HID projector lense, not just a HID bulb like most of the cheap crappy ebay stuff. Do a search on google for "projector retrofit", it is not too hard, just a little more costly

I had a set of the original Cibie Z-beam headlight that these are a copy of. They were in my 1980 until I bought a set of toucan projector lights with city light option. I installed them in my Dad's 88 Macrocab and left them on the truck when I sold it - within 2 months of selling it , one of them was broken and the other cracked. I still have the set of 4 Cibie Z-Beams from my 1985 Ram 50 that will be going into the 86 when I put it on the road - 100W bulbs x 4 anyone?

Been adjusting my head lights and I've noticed the lack of light compared to my 07 daily driver.
This is a very nice and easy option to have some LIGHT!

Pennyman, if you know did rocks or abuse break the lights?

www.HIDplanet.com has tons of information regarding retrofits. There are several ways to mount them, the most common being to buy a cheap ebay conversion housings, cut it up and mount a projector inside. I would check out their forums and do a search for "sealed beam retrofit". Doing a retrofit on these lights really isn't as hard as most people think.

They smashed the front end on both corners by hitting things - the punk kid also burned a new set of tires bald in that time znd ripped off the exhaust. Those lights were on my 1980 for over 25 years with no problems

Will get the pics soon, hopefully. Having motor problems at the moment, you can read about it in my build thread if you're interested.
