Rear Hub O-Ring PN?
Hello,
I have a 1989 Power Ram 50 4x4 and am freshening up the rear end. The hub shim situation is odd, as is the o-ring situation. From what I can tell, I’m the first one in this rear brake assembly/rear axle assembly.
Passenger rear has 4 shims on the back of the hub/backing plate and 2 o rings, one in the hub and one over the axle housing that the hub slides over.
Driver rear has no shims and no o-ring.
I’m wondering if each side should have 2 shims and 1 o-ring lol. Most importantly, does anybody have a part number for the o-ring? Oem or not, I don’t care, I just don’t want to have to do this again for the entire time I own this truck lol.
I love my truck, but dang Mitsubishi does weird stuff on their rear axles!

I'm in the middle of doing the same thing on my '88. I found one o-ring on each side between the axle tube and shim. The driver's side had one shim and the passenger side two. This is consistent with the service manual which says to assemble the driver's side with an o-ring and 1mm shim. Next, on the passenger side determine the thickness of the shims which sets the end play for both axles. Once determined assemble the passenger side installing the o-ring (MB092440) and shim(s).
This is the procedure stated in the repair guide in your other post:

I'm waiting for parts so haven't tried it yet. Can't say how well it works.

The procedure is working well so far. I’m putting it all back together and found that I need the special tool for the axle nut that tightens against the wheel bearing. If I had a welder I’d just make it like I made the axle pulled to get the bearing off. I’m gonna buy the tool, then have to drive a 4x4 mighty max forever to justify buying/making all this stuff lol.
