Tachometer and fuel gauge not working properly

    Hi,

The tachometer in my 1980 D50 sport is not working at all and the fuel gauge is acting strange. The fuel gauge reads empty when empty but when I fill it up the gauge goes below empty by about 1/2". I've checked fuses and everything is good. There are a couple connectors not hooked up to anything by the coil but not sure what they go to. I attached a couple pictures of the engine compartment and coil area for reference. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just speculation, but I wonder if the wires to the fuel gauge sender got swapped? Polarity inversion could plausibly explain the gauge moving backwards like that.

Tach wire (usually white IIRC?) takes a signal off the negative (-) terminal of the ignition coil.
