    Tailgate capacity?

Hey all, I bought some vacant land recently and have been thinking of loading my riding mower in the back of the '94 Max using some ramps. My only concern is the weight capacity of the tailgate and retaining cables. I replaced the cables a few years ago (one was badly rusted inside), so they are fresh and all the hardware is in great shape.

Altogether, the mower with me on it would weigh around 700 pounds (~317 kg). Any concerns with that rolling up a ramp to the tailgate? Anyone done something similar? Last thing I want is to bend up a nice original tailgate.

if you unhook the cables will the gate drop low enough to put ramps so they wont rest on the gate? if not then only option would be to remove the gate when u want to load the mower up..

With good cables you should be fine you could ditch load it by backing into a ditch and drive it straight on. A lot of mowers don’t do simple angles well.

Watch those tailgate cables, they can get rusty & weak. I replaced mine, the Napa store had them.

I'd bet it is offically less than 500lbs, but I'm sure people have done more for sure. Still would remove the thing or trailer hvy things if possible.
