Fuel line this time..

Hey all..

This time I’m trying to sort a fuel line.. I have a random rubber hose coming up the firewall that’s attached to a hardline on the frame.. it’s just sitting there and not attached to anything .. I followed the hardline this morning and it goes to the one way check valve on top of the fuel tank.. I’m assuming it’s for venting so do I just leave it hanging there, block it off or was it supposed to plug in somewhere (bearing in mind the previous owner swapped engines, so I have a 2.0l now rather than the 2.6l so there might not be anywhere for it to go)

From your description, sounds like that is the tank-to-charcoal canister hose. Find the canister port labeled “Tank.” Follow the hose as it snakes along the passenger fender well and firewall. It should connect to the hard line you described, but the PO might have plugged it in elsewhere.

Hey there,

I don’t have a charcoal canister.. or anywhere where it would have been.. on the top of the fuel tank is a one way check valve, goes to a short rubber hose that then goes onto the hard line that runs along the frame - once it gets to the engine bay it attaches to this rubber hose that’s just dangling there.. I assumed coming from a check valve that maybes it for venting and I should just leave it open, or should I be plugging it?

Don't know about NZ models, but on US trucks the canister is supported by a bracket located next to the coolant overflow and windshield washer bottles. Maybe the PO removed the canister. Don't plug the hose because it's how the tank vents. Find a generic one way valve, filter or something to cover the end so that excess pressure in the tank can vent from the hose end.
