    Engine valvetrain noise

Hello all, I have a G64B engine with the stock mechanical fuel pump that makes a tapping sound while idling, the sound appears to be up in the top of the engine and not down in the block. I replaced the hydraulic lifters but that did not remove the sound. The cam shaft is in good shape and isn't scored and the rockers are all in good shape. The truck only has 73k miles on it. And seems to be running fine and even survived a 2000 mile road trip. Are these engines just a little noisy? I have included a video of the engine while warm and in idle but the sound in the video is different than how it sounds in person https://youtube.com/shorts/ZIRZuF-IX...pCHZjZcZbjE3rq

My 93' fuel injected engine sounds similar. I can't advise on anything of course without seeing it in person. If you've opened it up and found no issues though, I'd say it's normal. From your video - I think I can hear the ticking from the top end as well as a tick from the fan assembly. You may need a new fan clutch soon, but again I don't wanna advise based on a video here. I need to replace my lifters also, was that difficult? What year is your truck?
