You could always opt for the conversion shown here.
Any of the astron alternators will fit
BUt the diesel alternator has the vacuum pump built into the back of the alternator. To use a regular alternator, you need to install an electric vacuum pump to supply vacuum for the brake booster.

I did not know about the vac pump.
Not that this pertains to the OP's requirement for "cheap", I wonder how well an electric booster from a Honda would fit in there. Then one would not need the pump and could go with a big boy alternator to power their 31" subs.I live in a low-population state, so finding parts like that for experimenting is no bueno for the most part.
