new here and to these trucks do not know anything about these trucks. I do have plans for it will be an offroader only use truck. it is a manual 4x4 my step dad just got it for me. since we have to say what year and engine we have to register I just randomly picked them because I do not know the year or the engine at this time. I am planing a lift and drive-train swap down the road

    Welcome to MR50

You might check the clutch cable soundness, no frays no rust ?
The fuel filter perhaps replace ~ maybe engine oil 'n filter (all filters)
Check all fluids transmission differentials (and that other gizmo)
    EDIT:
New Mexico (perhaps seasonal temperature changes?) If so then maybe change the coolant (I use the 50/50 premix it's a no brainer AND if the radiator core slots look plugged then do a good flush too)

thanks for the replies I will check those out my main interests right now are learning about the front and rear diffs, the t-case, and the transmission I do not know if this info is right or not but I think my truck is at least a 82 from what I have read that was the first year for 4x4 power ram 50s
my goal is to get it running/driving and plan a partial or complete drive-train swap

Do you have the VIN of the vehicle? If so, you should be able to find out what year it is. Engine model should be on a plate on the firewall.
I rescued one of the last roadworthy 1st gen. in Norway in 2019.

The engine code for the 87-89 model years is stamped on the block in the locations shown in the illustration below. I believe it's the same for 86 and older.

If the truck is a 1990 or newer, the engine codes are as shown for either the 2.4 or 3.0 ltr engines:
