    Super light gas pedal after Weber carb swap. Question/help

    Did the Weber carb swap on my 88 2.0 manual and fired it up for the first time this weekend. Running great except the gas pedal basically feels like it has no resistance. Definitely drives and accelerates/Revs as the pedal is depressed and can see it moving the throttle linkage but it’s acting like there is no resistance to overcome. Wondering if anyone has experienced this and what I might need to check? In my kit I got universal directions so there were a couple of parts that I couldn’t seem to identify nor did I see any mention of and wondering if my lack of using them is related to my problem? Posting pics of the the two items. One is a spring and the other is a bracket. Also got what looks like green string that also went unused. Would love to get my pedal feeling a little stiffer like I was pushing against a stronger rubber band if possible for a more stock feel.

    Add a spring until you get the feel you want. Is that the return spring and bracket that’s what it looks like to me. You might need to modify that set up to get the resistance your looking for, sometimes you need to sit back a find a way to get it done. Adapt and overcome!

    If you find an anchor point for a spring that works you might not need that bracket it depends on the set up. Just don’t get crazy with the spring angel it could bind on you so stay as straight as you can allow for the way it rotates.

    The "boomerang" bracket mounts to the top of your valve cover, and is meant to anchor the throttle cable housing. I used a Mazda B-series bracket kit that didn't come with one of those, and didn't seem to need it.

    The spring should attach between your carb throttle linkage and another fixed bracket, which would provide the extra pedal resistance you feel is lacking. I'll take a photo in daylight tomorrow to show how I hooked mine up.

    Here's that pic I promised, showing how the brackets, linkage, and spring are hooked up. Note this is a Weber DGEV carb mounted with the fuel bowl at the rear and linkage in front, whereas the mirror-image DFEV version would have the fuel bowl in front and linkage in back.
