    Fuel Sender Compatibility

The fuel sender on my 86 Ram 50 seems to be shot - confirmed with a resistor at the connector that the gauge itself works as expected. Looking at options for getting a replacement - seems like if I'm going to go to the trouble of dropping the tank, I may as well replace it rather than trying to rehab it.

The actual senders for the 79-86 don't seem available. I saw one post suggesting that the 87+ sender is the same, just with a different connector. Can anyone confirm if that's correct? Pretty straightforward to adapt the wiring?

Just thought I'd bump this - I never got around to dropping the tank last year, but it's still on my todo list. Anyone know if a second gen sender will physically work in a gen1, as long as I change to the correct connector?
