    High Idle when in neutral

1988 4x4 Mighty Max with 2.6 and Weber carb. Idle stays at 2k when in neutral. I can kick it down to about 900 by hitting the accelerator. I didnt get any results checking for vacuum leaks. Any thoughts and ideas are welocomed.

    Thanks

If that high idle is just when you first start it up cold, there's a high-idle cam in the choke mechanism, which you can adjust with a screw behind the electric-choke element housing.

Hitting the accelerator lifts that screw away from the fast-idle cam, so after it warms up at idle a wee bit, that would allow the choke element to rotate the fast-idle cam out of engagement along with reducing choke, allowing idle to drop.

Also could be throttle cable drag or throttle butterflies and linkages are sticking. A light hit with some spray lube might help.
