    Recommended spark plugs and wires

Hey everyone, I’m going to be doing a tune up on my truck here pretty soon. I just wanted to see what you guys have had the best luck with. I am running the pacesetter header and Weber carb. What plugs and wires do best with these trucks? Also, what’s the best trans fluid you guys have found for these transmissions? My truck has the G63B in it and stock trans.

NGK BPR6ES or BPR6EY plugs -- the Y version ("V-power") has a V-notched center electrode, which resists fouling better but also wears faster. Avoid using fancy platinum/iridium/etc. plugs on any carbureted engine; they foul too easily, really only meant for injected engines with finer fuel management.

Magnecor wires are IMO the absolute best, albeit very pricey; I'm only running them cuz I scored a great deal for them on eBay. Otherwise NGK or Denso are good OEM quality.

Redline MT-90 gear oil for Florida heat (cooler climes could use their MTL or MT-85). Avoid using any GL-5 rated gear oil in these drivetrains.

Nice, I already have a gallon of the MT-90 oil that I didn't use on the Talon when I sold it. I'll find some Magnecore wires again, I had those on the Talon also. Do they make them for our trucks, or do I buy them for a Toyota pick-up or something like that?

And make sure you have an ignition coil in decent condition. Another thing is to experiment with plug gaps and ignition advance. The Weber prefers a more aggressive tune - try gapping the plugs @ 0.85mm to 0.9mm and increase timing advance by trial and error.

    Magnecor set # 4005 (8mm) or 4705 (7mm) are suitable for any 4-cylinder MM/D-50/Ram 50.
