Is there a good source for gaskets, seals, etc., for 1980 D-50s. I can usually dig up a MB part number from my dealer parts catalog .... thanks!

I've had good luck with rockauto.com
Tried everyone, including Dodge and Mitsui dealers, Rock Auto, Baxters, AutoZone ... nobody can get the gasket for the Silent Shaft inspection port on the timing chain cover for the 1980 2.6ltr any longer. Have to make my own. Bummer.
if you can take the cover up to your local thermo king dealer, they may have a gasket that would work. It's been years since I worked on them, but there were several small gaskets like that on the Isuzu engines they used.
Reuse orginal (if possible) along with permatex black rtv thats what i did before and after o ring.
try kneckts auto parts. at least down here in roseburg kneckts has almost anything for these trucks, even your little gasket. i called and checked. and if they don't have it, they will try their hardest to find it. that and kneckts is a whole lot cheaper than any of those other parts stores.
yes, mine only had an o-ring as well. that is all i did was clean real good put bead of black rtv in groove spread with finger insert o-ring another bead of rtv including under bolt heads there is supposed to be one o-ring per bolt as well. put it back on any excess that squished out i just spread it out over the joint called it, let it sit for a day to cure. DONE!
I might have the little inspection plate gasket laying around, hell, I may have a bunch. Ya get one every time you buy a timing cover set...I've bought a lot of those over the years. lol
Will check the garage later and tell ya either tonight or tomorrow.

Order at Clackamas, it'd be here tomorrow or Tuesday. Be the same for your local Napa, it's in their warehouse.

Bah, probably because I put in my zip to get a price. Was like $32 and change for the gasket set (Altrom), Napa PN: ATM TC200
Still haven't gone digging yet, I will, I promise. LOL
AutoZone shows it as part of this gasket set,

I spent about 1/2 hour at my local Autozone while the guy tried to find this o-ring/gasket with no luck on his computer. It does seem to come in a complete gasket set, but I don't need one of those ... yet.
Want to check the chain slack adjuster and scuppers first before getting into a replacement project.
I guess for $8.99 .... I will have the rest of it anyway to add to the "parts stash."
If it's just an "O" Ring you can just reuse it. They make a good static seal but when placed into a dynamic load they tend to were some. Lucky for you it's a static seal. Just pull it off. Wipe with a rag NO CLEANER. Re install. It should be fine. Or once you pull it out you can go to the auto parts place and match up the same size from there assortment kit. It should be close enough to seal it no problem. Thicker is better than smaller.
