This is a good mod. An increase in oil capacity in the system is always a good thing + the added bonus of an increase in filtration surface will help preserve oil quality. Got a part #?

What's the part number of that filter?

Wix 51515, with the filter mount threads tapped to 20 X 1.5 MM
    from 3/4 X 16.

The gasket I.D., O.D.,& thickness are identical between the small
    filter and the 1 quart.
I verified this by interchanging the gaskets between 2 brand new
    filters (wix 51381 and wix 51515 ).
I now have about 300 miles on this mod with no issues, so I can
    vouch for the mods effectiveness.

    P.s,
Fresh synthetic oil & fresh 1 quart filter--- my lifter tic has gone away!
    maybe coincidence, I don't know...

Ah, right on; that's a good filter, use it on one of my Lancias, has the bypass valve at the mounting end, so bypassed oil doesn't wash past the filthy media first.

Short of retapping threads, I've just identified the Wix 51324 as the largest Wix filter with the right threading, gasket diameters, and bypass PSI for all but the 2.0L engines, which specify a filter with a lower bypass PSI for some reason.

Great work. Now just find me an alternate for my small (its tiny) Mivec unit.

I'll see what I can find, looks like that's a 3.8L 6G75, yeah? What was the donor model?

Correct, 3.8L Mivec out of a 2007 Eclipse.

For that application, looks like a Wix 51334 would be their largest standard filter with the same threading, gasket, and bypass PSI, or the XP version (51334XP) would be very slightly larger yet.

Hmm still fairly small, but appreciate your efforts.

Width is more significant than height, thanks to Pi and radius-squared.

The standard filter listed for that application is the Wix 51356, 86mm tall X 68mm wide, roughly like a beer can but shorter. The Wix 51334 is 82mm tall X 80mm wide, only slightly shorter but a LOT wider, so larger by about 30% in volume and 15% in can surface area (not counting the baseplate).

I also just found another one even larger, the Wix 51344, albeit with a slightly wider gasket by about a half-mm, if your mounting flange has room for that. That's 103mm tall X 82mm wide, larger by about 40% in volume and 20% in can surface area vs. the standard 51356 filter.

If I could get the actual measurements of your gasket mounting flange ID and OD, I may be able to find one even larger.
