I am having issues with my 1990 Dodge Ram 50. It was working great until not to long ago when the car suddenly started having issues while I had it loaned to my brother. The car still runs, but struggles to accelerate under load. If you slam the throttle open, it seems to die. If you slowly ramp it up, it seems to be fine.
I just changed the timing belt (it was super cracked and figured that would be a fine place to start since it needed to go anyway). I'm reading some people mentioning issues with fuel pumps/fuel pressure causing similar symptoms. Shortly after changing the timing belt, the car seemed to run perfectly for a bit, but has since gone back to how it was before (this after just a simple start up and moving the distributor, no driving). I was thinking this could be due to the fuel pump having been able to build up pressure after a few failed starts due to low battery.
Any recommendations of what to check? The fuel pump was changed about 2 years ago when I got the car.
