Make us a wiring diagram of how you have it done along with the MSD part number and page you are using. It will help. You did clip the correct color wires in the ignition unit correct? The more info the better. OH ya use the search for MSD I think we had this problem on another truck.

well ive tryed so many variations from all kinds of sources and i think it all boils down to having a 3 wire dist vs a 2 wire msd ignition, and yes accroding to the manual i cut the correct wire from the back of the msd ign box. ill try to draw a post a diagram asap

Have you looked through this post yet? It might help you. I also reached out to Acuta73. He might be able to shed some light on what you have going on.

Some books came with an addendum in them. It was a separate page. Thats what my v6 Chevy is wired like. I used the part number you gave me. It says it was superseded. That might be the incorrect book. IDK If you can please set us up with a link to the book on the MSD site. We will need a starting reference point. I want to say that Acuta73 found some issue that was causing him some major grief. I can't remember. I think he has the key to it. He just never finished his post.

The thread that Camoit posted should help you out. A few things to add: No other wires should be attached to the coil with this ignition, ONLY the ignition box black and orange. Your dizzy should have a green and a black with white stripe wire coming out of it. The green wire will connect to the white signal wire on the ignition box, the black to the red wire on the ignition box AND to your ignition switch (12v source).

Post #9 in that thread has the schematic. The new digital 6AL box has a green wire for tach signal, only difference.

Ahh, I feel for ya. Spent my year in the RoK at Camp Casey, 2 HOT rotations to the DMZ (1992).
