    Transfer case wiring and sensor(?)

On the left side of the transfer case to the speedometer cable a little towards the front is a sensor(?) That is pushed into the transfer case and is held in place by a 10mm bolt. What is it? One of the 2 wires on it is broken off inside the hard plastic molded housing of the sensor(?). Found it broken when i removed the transmission/transfer case to replace the clutch and drive shaft seals. Not sure if i broke it or it was already broken.<br>

If it's about 1.5" to the left of the T/C fill plug and has two green wire leads, it's a sensor called a pulse generator. It detects rotation of the T/C output shaft and sends a signal to the automatic free-wheeling hub indicator control unit to turn on the "Wheel Lock" dash light when set conditions are met. My searches found the P/N MD728400 and it's available new. If you don't replace or repair it, the only consequence is that the "Wheel Lock" light won't illuminate. Everything else (the transfer case, front auto-hubs) will work fine.
