Just bought a 1992 Mighty Max, regular cab, automatic on the column, with 62,000 miles and absolutely no rust. I put 4 new tires on it and a used battery and drove it home. It runs great, rides fine, but too quiet as there is no radio. Transmission does not seem to shift into higher gear or OD at highway speed. Suspect cable/linkage adjustment is needed because it only starts in “N”. I also noticed it wants to try and back up when in between “P” and “R”.
I plan on replacing all fluids, flushing cooling system and brake fluid, replacing all hoses, thermostat and vacuum hoses. Anything important that I am missing?
oh yeah, my total investment in this truck is $1000, including the tires and battery.
