Try looking in the tech section. I think there are 2 ways to go.

I had an auto electric shop install I believe a 80 or 90 amp altenator to support the winch and light bar. They hooked a couple of wires out of the altenator together for some reason to get it to work and it's been fine for a number of years. The only thing I see is my amp meter doesn't work, but that could just be the meter.
The amp gage will only show a small draw unless the alt goes out. Turn on the head lights when the truck is not running. Then it should show the slight draw.

In the wiring harness on the drivers side near the battery there are 2 inline glass fuse holders - 1 is for the ampmeter and I forget what the other one is for. Clean up the connections to the fuse and it should start working. PS it will only work with the ignition in the on position.
