    Mr Nosey George
Thank you boozehero for the update & answered questions; you deserve a good rest... Perhaps your truck was carrying a heavy load over them mountains, slowing it down..? Or slow down was caused by the changed transmission to the five speed (does a stock 5 speed truck have the same rear gear ratio as yours?) BIG exhaust can make BIG changes to an otherwise mostly stock engine; sometimes, the change is very negative because a smaller diameter tube has more scavenging affect... Much brake work was accomplished on your truck (right?) check em again for dragging..? Like geezer said, the air/fuel adjust & pitch perfect timing (initial timing, vacuum & centrifugal) need to be correct + good compression 'n valve timing... Assuming your truck is not having any miss condition; it's just low on power..? Maybe refer to the "Low on Power" FSM troubleshooting chart..? Heck, I dunno... Have you ever turned the engine over with just your hands on the fan belts..? I did when all four spark plugs were removed and we were installing a new front crankshaft seal ~ it spun fairly easy... Did you change wheel or tire sizes..?

Well, enjoy the fix as much as possible & maybe we can learn something from your efforts...
    Most Respectfully,
    George

    Thanks for the notes Gents.
The truck has excellent acceleration and runs like a Timex...
Compression is excellent and all other systems a "go".
    I have a 3.91 rear gear, went from 14" to 16" wheels/tires, and 5 speed.
I've mentioned that the truck will BURY the speedo easily and runs at 75 without a hitch... all day long.

Towing another vehicle behind the truck over a distance was not easy, although the truck did it without issue.
I don't have intentions of doing that anymore, at least with this truck.

    Upcoming improvements:
    Re upholster bench seat,
install sound killer and new brown carpet,
    probably repair dash pad.
    Finish installing A/C
    Maybe add rear sway bar

I've been in Seattle, Baton Rouge, New York and now Emmitsburg Maryland.
All in the last 3 weeks.

Heading back to Baton Rouge in the Wiener Truck (1987 Dodge Dakota - more later)
The truck in this thread is sleeping in Baton Rouge, I'll be waking it up and back to service.
    More to come
