    Return spring?

After replacing my clutch cable and adjusting to my spec. I read the lit again and it says to remove the return spring from the clutch lever.
I don't recall one nor see a place for one around the lever. There is no spring on the pedal either. Cable is a NAPA part and works ok but just feels funky. If anyone can show me the spring, bring it on. My Haynes book says 3/4" pedal free play. I didn't check my pedal height from floor.....not good at directions I guess. Help me if you can.
    Thanks, Lunny

There wasn't any return spring attached to the clutch lever, pedal or cable that I had to remove when changing the cable on my '88 Ram 50. I don't know why the manual includes that step. Maybe it applies to Gen 1 trucks? If you loosened the pedal stop bolt, adjust the surface of clutch pedal so it's level with the brake pedal's, then adjust the free-play. Both pedals should have the same 6.5-7" height. You can fine tune the clutch pedal from there, but don't elevate it more than another half inch.
