    Another Newbie

Been doing mechanic work all my life. Got a sweet deal on a 1988 Max 2.0 with 120k miles and a new Weber carb for $1k. Other than trying to figure out where all of the old vacuum hoses should go, I think I love this old skool truck. I'm gonna cammo it to hide the ding and dents for shts/ggls and have a good time. I hope the carb will work well. Got new shocks otw to get her stable.

Hi and welcome to mightyram. You can delete all of the vacuum hoses except the one for the distributor vacuum advance. Any barbs on the manifold need to be capped off (the vacuum barb 'tree' directly below the base of the carb) There are barbs on the vacuum switch under the thermostat, but these are an external vacuum circuit that doesn't have any manifold vacuum present so you can ignore it. Depending on the Weber model, the vacuum advance needs to be hooked up 'above' the throttle butterflies from the barb just under or off side of the auto choke housing. If it's a genuine Weber carb and it has been installed correctly, the 2.0 will run well with it. It requires an HVLP electric fuel pump as the Weber needs flow, not pressure to operate.
