    1988 Mighty Max 2.6 Sport - MN

    Hello!

I am about to purchase an '88 Mighty Max on Saturday here in Minnesota and I'm really excited about it! I decided a pickup truck is what I needed for my hobbies, so I started looking around for one a few months ago, but I was bummed out at how practically all modern trucks looked. I did a lot more research, and found there were a lot more compact trucks like I remember from my youth, and I started hunting down the more reputable ones. Eventually I found a good looking one and did a deep dive on researching it. I ended up finding this site and I've been hooked. I've been completely blown away at the amount of information available here and how it's been able to really help me understand this truck and it's place in things. I frankly didn't even know how an engine worked a few weeks ago, but that was mostly because they bored me as a concept and I never thought to look into them. However, after a small amount of research, I have discovered that engines are actually extremely cool. I am very excited to tinker and experiment with this car as a hobby, and to keep learning more about trucks. Been doing a huge info dive and all the manuals, stories, photos and anecdotes here really make me feel confident in jumping off this cliff. I love to chat, and I'm excited to meet you!

Hi and welcome to mightyram. It seems most of the small truck forums are aimed at Toyota/Nissan. Mitsubishi is the overlooked gem in the lot and that's what we're here for. These trucks had bigger optioned engines, made more power from factory and were lighter. And they're tough critters. Added bonus is their cross compatibility with other Mitsubishi platforms means you can modify a truck without having to source specialised aftermarket parts most of the time. Good luck with your purchase! Post pics, ask questions

Didn't want to reply until I was sure I actually ended up with it, but I went and picked this up today!! I snapped a couple of quick pics with my camera while walking around but I was pretty excited to get it home. I went on Friday to do a test drive with my dad and he gave me a TON of info about everything he saw about it. I'll make a more project/build oriented thread to dump all that and post more pictures.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Excited to chat with ya'll and learn more about this super sweet little truck!

Oh whoops, those photos are super blurry!! Looks like I knocked into auto focus. My bad, I was extremely excited when picking it up, and when I got home I was too fixated on driving and took our other WRX out for a few hours, so the sun was out by the time I was _really_ home. Here are some more that show it off a little better!

A loading ramp the previous owner made as well as a view of the light rust on the bed

Bear with me as I get used to getting my photos on here, haha, I assure you it will be worth it.

Nice, your truck is gonna clean up nicely ~ glue or epoxy can fix the front grill no problemo ~ I wonder what/why the P.O. was using the loading ramps to load sumpin..?
