    Engine Swap?

    A local auction has a chevy 305 V8 available.
What would it take to put one in my truck?

A matching transmission, cut down tail shaft, probably some hatchet work on the floor pan to get clearance, exhaust system custom made to route it's way around the framework, maybe an upgraded rear end, possibly need to cut up the engine sump and modify it to clear the front cross member, then ensure everything clears the steering linkages, a bigger radiator... the usual.

It will fit in the engine bay, so that's a good start.
There's some Chevy v8 trucks on here already

It's kinda rude to say it, but if you want a V8 truck they do actually make them. Saves not only all of the headaches with a conversion but also saves a truck being cut up. The number of times I've seen a good, clean car/truck butchered for a drag strip hack only to be stripped and junked 3 years later is beyond a joke...

Racecar is not what I had in mind. Just a potential project.
I like working on this truck.
Current project should be complete in a couple of weeks.

    Nah if you want a v8 d50 make a v8 d50.
    Engine mounts
    Trans mounts
    Driveshaft
    Exhaust system
    Radiator and electric fan Infront

Maybe some minor cutting to the trans tunnel, they are easy though, I assume you have a mig or Tig. Should be able to fit the radiator in, worst case you shift it forwards and lose the hood latch and use bonnet pins instead.

A carb and manual trans would be very easy. Auto not so bad if it doesn't need a computer.
Easy enough to make an injected engine and matching electronic trans work with a stand alone loom.
Being in the USA you will have tonnes of options for aftermarket stuff to deal with that anyways.

The most over looked part is that it always costs twice as much as you expected and takes 3 times as long.

It's not a crazy wild swap or anything
