Gear knob won't stay in Park

I Have a 90 automatic MM IT won't stay on park . Unless you move around the knob till it finds the right position to stay in Park it won't start either ,usually I leave in neutral and use hand brake any ideas on how to repair? It's my first repair on a MM .

    APPRECIATE any help!

    Thanks.

Probably the shifter gate has worn down or is full of dirt. This would make it difficult to "click" into park and the neutral lockout won't be in the correct position. You will have to remove the shifter surround and check it out.

Doesn't sound like the park pawl in the box has worn out/sheared off

+1 on that. Take the shifter assembly out and look for excessive wear (or something cracked/broken) If worse comes to worse and you can't find a good used shifter, you can always head down the musclecar path and use an aftermarket B&M Megashifter to suit the TF727 auto trans. The A904 is the TF727's little brother. It'll look killer
