Grommet Grommet who's got the Grommet

    Hi Guys!

I pulled my hood prop bar out and in doing so the rubber grommet broke.

Anyone know where a replacement might be found?

Hey GTG, I had the same issue a few years back. Bought a pack of assorted grommets from either Advance Auto or Autozone, and made two separate sizes work. Large grommet with a smaller one inserted into it. Eventually just installed hydraulic cylinders for hood support.

^gas lifters are a win - a little bit of guesstimation to install them but they work brilliantly. Unnerving to have that big hunk of metal magically hovering over your head though lol. I think the right size grommet is still available, maybe go hunting on ebay for it.

On my truck page in my signature link below has the positions for inserting 2 gas charge lifts. It places them out of the way of when closing from anything in the engine compartment or hood.
I used a pair out of a Mazda RX7 liftback at the wrecking yard. You want stiff ones so it lifts the hood when you unhook the safety latch.

I have a write up on how I did mine . Just changed the hood struts to a set out of a jeep liberty. The jeep uses 1 strut so I grabbed 2 for mine and it works better then the first ones.

I had thought about the cylinders.
I had also checked ebay and the box stores, nothin.

    I'll keep working the problem.

I found this kit on Amazon. It took forever to get here from China, but it did. And it works!
