Looking for ideas on a not-stock gen 1 rear bumper.
I don't have one and don't really like the look of it bare but have never been a fan of the step bumpers.
I saw a picture (google is a wonderful tool) of a nice radius bent unit on a Ford raptor but I don't think it'd flow with the max (and I can't find the picture again anyway)
Any pictures of first gens with other than stock rear bumpers or ideas?
Preferably no napkin drawings(yes, I am picky)
Bjamin, you want it to provide a step for your foot, or no need..? I'm keeping my stock rear bumper, for me it works ok...
The step bumper isn't that practical (you can open the tail gate you know...) but it is one tough piece of armour against getting rear ended. There are bound to be plenty of alternatives waiting to be discovered in a local JY if you're prepared to make/mod mounts.

I have no need for a step bumper at the stock height, which I intend to keep. I used to be all about lifted trucks but I tell you what, I love being able to step up into the bed without having to climb a ladder (makes loading the thumpers way easier)

The armor is a welcome addition, 'cause people are awesome. I'm definitely not against junk yard or fab work, just lacking inspiration for a design or good junk yard option. Was hoping to get some visual motivation.

my rear bumper on the ol' crown vic. Which was really just to get the weight balance back after the front end shenanigans. Engineering overkill muchHow much do those things weigh? Those have to be the ultimate highway armourplating. They look really well made and the front one looks like it could've easily been bought from a catalog.
The old arm scale is registering somewhere in the 150 pound range. The rear maybe 120 or so. I put the police package springs and shocks in afterwards. The front is even within 1/16" of an inch. The back was rushed because I just needed the handling back. Nobody cuts me off anymore

I bought a metal cutting 9" circular saw for the occasion. Much easier and faster than the old cutoff wheel on a grinder.
WOW..! We have come a long way from a 2x4 piece of lumber; that cool saw + a Sawzall is get-er-done country..! Thanks for sharing the info

Tube is always a good option xbox, though I may have to re-think the front since it's a nearly stock chomey with the black end caps
