I may be getting a 2.0L valvetrain sooner than I thought. Looks like the rocker arm pedestal is cracked right at the cam gear. Going to upload a picture. I'm going to put it all back together, and just send it until I find one. Head gasket was blown at a coolant port, so atleast the head looks good.

I like that intake setup. I'm definitely going to have to run that myself. While I was splitting mine apart I couldn't help but think, "This wont be factory long."
I dont see how they breathe.

Should I be really concerned about this? Never seen one crack here before.

I don't think they're cracks, more likely expansion lines from when it was cast. These are only cosmetic and you'll see them on the thinner cast alloy parts.

Good to know! I did find a small knick about a 1/4" long and a little deep in cylinder 3 between half way to 3/4s the way up the cylinder wall. It isnt enough to say it is a chip. Quite unusual. I'm not worried too much about it, as the engine was running well even with a head gasket issue aside from cold starting.

The question is how well it will hold up to boost. Either way I'll have a spare complete engine on standby before I hit it with a razzle dazzle engine tassle.

Motor turns very easily though. No scoring of other cylinders. And aside from a lot of carbon build up, it was surprisingly clean.

Ordering a timing kit, as the belt looked factory, then putting it back together.

Any idea what all parts interchange from other year 2.4L SOHC? It is hard to get anything to pull up for just a 95 mighty max. I may start a new thread to discuss any and all interchangeable parts for both SOHC and DOHC versions of this engine for someone else who may need the information.

By all parts, I'm currently referring to the timing kit for now. As it isn't very easy for me to find a complete kit by my year model 4G64.

This will work on the 4G64 - http://www.mightyram50.net/vbulletin...ll=1#post29172

I would go through and read a few of the posts on that thread just for the info. It has helpful insight from members that have done the delete and cuts through all of the mumbo jumbo.

What about this kit here? Amazon says it will not fit, but I'm not aware of any differences, and the pump looks exactly the same.

Difference I see is 16V vs 8V. Still being SOHC though, is the game gear just not the same?

I figured. Just wasn't 100% if they are interchangeable. I'm trying to find one with a water pump included, as it is usually cheaper, but may just have to order the kit and pump separately. Getting more and more eager to toss some boost at it the more I browse through parts, but I'm trying to replace everything that is a basic normal wear part while I reassemble.

Been a while since I've had a street truck. I pretty much melted the 383 years ago bouncing off the limiter for 30 solid minutes, as the younger version of me was far less wiser.
