no - V6 bell housing is different than the 4 cylinder. You may be able to swap bell housings to make it work - check the Montero forums for that info. I think the V5m31 trannys have swappable housings

So is the V6 tranny a V5M31 (as opposed to a V5MT1) for future reference? What Montero forum are you referring to?

    Thanks!!!

Both the V5M31 and the V5MT1 are V6 mounted transmissions, but the V5MT1 has an integrated transmission and bell housing (can't be separated)

The one I found is a V5M31 with a removable bell housing. Do you think it'll bolt up to my 13.5" KM145 bell housing and mate up to my driveshafts?

    Thanks!!!!

KM145s don't have removeable bell housings as far as I know

I got a feeling that the V6 to 4 cylinder isn't do-able. There are options to swap between regular gas/TD. Looked on forums and only came up with gas to diesel swaps and 3.0 to 3.5/3.8 swaps.
