    New EFI Option

I have decided that I will be using the Speeduino System to control my EFI and Turbo set-up for next year.

I will document the entire process. There is already a module in the system for the 4G63 that I might be able to use as a starting point.

The entire Kit is under $200 AUS.

For those interested, there are a lot of great videos about the project on YouTube.

I've heard a little about these. How easy are they to set up and how reliable long term?

They have a complete PC interface which is the same to tune as most high dollar setups.

This is an open source project that already has 4 years of tests.

I know I will substitute all of the electrolytic caps with the high end caps... been there done that with cheap caps.

I hope this is a great alternative. If i had to place to work on my truck during the upcoming winter I would have it done by spring...

So we can't use the tune form the 4G63 as they run coil pack "well at least not easily" I found that out today on their forum..

Also the system does not work with knock sensors..

I will likely still give it a go. Just lower down the list now..

Possible this would be a great way to upgrade to coil packs..

I was thinking about adding the 4G63 crank trigger
https://electromotive.com/our-produc...k-trigger-kit/ feeding the unit for timing then have it output to a set of coil packs.

I'm just unsure if I would still need the cam position sensor located in the dizzy.

If its missing those circuits, as well as the base programming. DSM for 4Cyl or 3000Gt for the V6 guys seem to be a quicker and easier transition.

It has a self learn for base mapping. That is why I think I will use GM electronics ( GM Mass Air, GM Throttle Body with adapter, 3 bar GM Map sensor)... then I can probably get by with a base GM set up.

I have a 6 bolt block that I have installed a oil pump on that has provisions for a crank sensor.. Only thing is I will not have it ready to test any time soon. If you use the CAS in the distributor it should be no issue..

The next bad thing is that block was supposed to be a turbo block and this project does not work with knock sensors..

Stay light on the timing and keep it fat and you don't need a knock sensor...LOL

Yea I was kinda thinking that. I don't know why they have not got it working with the knock sensor yet.. I read over a bunch of threads and they were talking about using sound files to processes the signal from the knock sensor. I though the oem just looks for a small voltage signal from the tuned piezoelectric pickup to detect knock.

I still want to play with this project I just need to get a few other things out the way first..

I grabbed the 2 bar map sensor and the fuel injectors from the 3800 that I took the blower from. I'm currently making a pulse machine so that I can clean them by pulsing the injectors.

I will have to research the injectors to see if I can run them on the truck. The 3800 made about 8 psi of boost max which is all I want to run.

I'm also tempted to grab the coil packs too from the engine and see if i can make them work also.
