    Distributer and timing

I pulled apart my g63b on my d50 and I can’t get a straight answer to what the firing order is and how to setup the ignition timing.

As you look at the top of the cap the bottom right connector for the plug wire is Number 1, clockwise from there is 3, 4 and 2. the cylinders are front to back 1 to 4

Edit- What geezer posted below me is important. Funnily enough I got that info from my Chilton where I noted it on the front page as I do not know where it is in the Factory Service manual. If you donate here you can use the manuals section where they have the full FSM for 1st gens. There are also instructions for how to do the timing and balancer belts.

If you've pulled your engine apart you will need to be 100% sure you have set the alignment marks for the timing belt sprockets correctly otherwise you will never get it to fire and run properly (or at all)
