I want to put my dash back to OE condition and I have seen one that is fine, still has the AM radio in it.
How does/where does one cut it out so that it can be put into another vehicle?

no need to cut - the dash pad unbolts from the metal frame of the dash. unless you are pulling the frame and all, then you have to cut it out after removing the pad...

I have the pad off and the cuts I made for a radio look like hell.
in the bezel or the frame behind it?

I have an entire dash from an 83 sitting on my shelf. What do you want to see?
Pennyman- I cut the area for the radio to enlarge it. It is hidden now and not too bad looking so I may forgo this idea.
Tortron- I was interested in where a person would cut it to get the whole dash frame out. I think there are two spots in either end that attach to the pillars and possibly a couple braces in between. I didn't really try to figure it out I was hoping someone had done it so I could judge whether or not I should attempt it. I saw a nice dash with the am still in it when I found it and the idea came to me that I might be able to restore mine and mount my radio somewhere else.
To remove the entire dash pad there are 5 bolts at the bottom and 5 along the top.
But you can remove the radio/heater control/dash area easily by itself. There are 4 bolts and a clip

Mine is rhd so yours is a mirror obviously
I have had the pad off, see the 'bench seat" thread I redid the interior and repaired the pad with Shoe Goo. I was referring to the steel to which it mounts.
