    1988 dodge ram 50 popping noise

    Have a dodge ram 50 with a sluggish feel with a slight sharp popping noise for about 15min till truck will warm up while driving. Soes anyone know why truck is popping

    As your truck is running EFI, see if you can get the fault codes from the ECU. It will save guessing. My guess - the IAC (idle air control valve) is either gummed up or non functioning.

    I see your truck is an 88' which would indicate that its carbureted but your engine is listed as a 4g64 used in the 1990 and newer trucks that were EFI. is your engine swapped?
