Bought my Montero about a year ago from a local just before he was deciding to part it out. Had high miles but a newly rebuilt motor that was consuming coolant. Sat in his garage for over 5 years. Picked her up for next to nothing and towed her home.
Pulled the heads to find out he used good gaskets, but with steel shims as well. Well all it took was a couple heat cycles for the shims to leak lol. I cleaned her back up and installed new HG's. No more overheat and lots of power.
Picked up some 33's along the way, but they were too wide and ugly.
Installed some 30's on Montero Wheels. Looked good.
Factory Radio was dead, so I installed a rare 1993 3000gt radio in its place. Much better, but speakers are nasty.
Went searching around and found the wheel/tire combo I liked most.
Painted the rusty bumper
Finally took it out on some dirt roads last week. Blast of a truck!
Picture of my dads Ram 50 V6 auto and my Monti out on the farm. Both handled the mountains and hills just fine despite all the loose dirt and steep climbs.
