I am new to this forum. So the cylinder head bolts on a 95 2.4 mighty max can be reused?
I wanna say no just from experience with other 80/90s vehicles.
Most are one time use & the book prolly says to replace them, although
I have reused them on vw 4cyl engines, I Cannot speak about mitsu engines
in particular, as this 6g72 max is my 1st bishi. I purchased new headbolts for
my engine thru rock($shipping)auto for like $30/set.
I'd check them for ur headbolts, long as ur not after a bunch of parts the shipping
ain't bad, they just have like x6 warehouses so if ur shit ain't in the same one, u pay
shipping for each warehouse.
That being said the ship time estimates are usually double, so stuff gets to u fairly fast,
at least they make it seem that way by telling u it'll be there next week & it shows up in
3 days like it shuda...... Idk...
Damn they don't have headbolts for the 2.4 max\monteros at all....
Idk if ARP makes studs for them ( they have something that'll work if u call em)
Or if ur willing to shell out for them but u mite hafta re use yours.

the length of these bolts are not listed, they are for the 16v head and the 2.4 mighty max is a 8v head. I had ordered a set and they were the wrong length. 95mm long and I need 120mm long. Thanks for the input though. I am continueing my search.
I thought I saw somewhere that the 6v72 head bolts would work, but I don't remember where I saw that.

I found a technical service bulletin for the 4G64 head bolts on the 93, 94, and 95 that says they used "elasticized" bolts and gave a measurement for the safe limit for reuse. It has been my experience that the torque specs for this are torque to yield bolts which are a one time use bolts. Who out there has had the head off one of these and knows?
geezer101, camoit, LSRMike, what do you know?
Sorry, I don't know this one. I'm stall searching for the 1.25x120mm head bolts and not finding a cross reference

yes, the 2.4 forklift motor is the same as the truck motor without balance shafts. ARP Studs for a 16V motor are too short (I had to return them) IIRC you can re-use the bolts (as mentioned) if you don't stretch them too much. They are torque to spec, not torque to yield or torque angle (older I think 2.6 is the torque to yield, i.e, go to 60 ft lbs, then a 1/2 turn more. You do stretch them either way, that's how they get the clamping power.
I always replaced mine as a matter of practice. I think I still have a set lurking in the garage that got about 6 miles on them :-)
Allright! I will order a set. Thanks guys. I was worried that they would last for a short time if I reused them. Don't want to do the job twice.
I ordered the bolts that are for the forklift and used them just to be sure. It worked, I torqued them per factory specs. I have since put about 3,000 miles on it. It is completely stock, I had the AC compressor rebuilt and it sure works good.
Nice. And it's good to see even old threads like this are a gift that keeps on giving
