    Trans gasket or RTV?

I have the trans out for a new clutch and clean up. I was wondering if I could use RTV instead of a new gasket for the trans pan. (Manual Trans) I have sealed rear diffs for years using it and it doesn't look it would be a problem just wondering what everyone thinks.

You could use red RTV sealant to seal up the sump or get a sheet of gasket cork and cut one by hand. Fiddly to do, but a good skill to get under your belt.

I think I'll try the RTV first. It's easy enough to fix if it leaks.

Had my Ram@ resto shop for new clutch, trans seal etc... I had the gaskets N.O.S., trans tech said he much preferred the new RTV sealants. Did not use any gaskets. Does not leak a drop and sits in garage all the time-12K orig miles ( bought it new).

Ok coll. I got it mostly back together and had to move it out of the shop for another car I needed to fix. I'm still waiting on the driveline to come back from getting a new carrier bearing so I hope to get back on it next weekend.
