New member looking for parts and info on an '88 1 Ton

Hey everyone, my apologies if this isnt the right place to post this.
I appreciate the immense amount of effort that the community has put into gathering the plethora of information found on this site, however Ive been unable to find much information about the 1 tons.

First, about my MM. When I was 14 or 15, our family purchased a 1988 Mitsubishi Mighty Max 1 Ton so that the kids could learn to drive stick. Ive never driven another stick MM, but the clutch is so light that I would say its a great vehicle to learn with. It currently has 262,000 miles. The guy we purchased the vehicle from said it was his father's vehicle (who had recently passed away), and that he had just rebuilt the motor, but with as much noise as it makes im not so sure about that. (I have seen the G54B labeled as the gasoline diesel due to the engine noise, so maybe idk what im talking about)

A couple years back, my step brother was rear ended in a 45 mile an hour collision while sitting at a stop sign. this rendered the bed bent and unable to open. About a year after that, It was passed down to me for my 18th birthday. I drove this truck to school from jr high and took it to graduation, so Im pretty sentimental about it and will be restoring it to my needs.
I have been looking for a new bed to replace this one but im having a really hard time finding any one tons at all, much less parts. Ive read that the long beds of the same year either from the d50 or the Toyota were exactly the same, but I cant confirm that.944714_591833804181060_1475322125_n_591833804181060.jpg
About a year ago, at 222K miles, Some shift forks in the KM132 transmission broke, and I had the Trans rebuilt. About a mile into the first drive on the new trans, the stock shifter broke. This proved top be extremely difficult because there just arent many KM132 trucks in the yards (especially in north central Arkansas), and the 2 that I did find had already been taken. Because of the scarcity, I had a billet shifter made from core-shifters.com, and im extremely happy with it. Here are some pictures:

    Old:

New:Can still be purchased, but I believe they are made to order, so it shows out of stock.

The truck has some rust under the driver door and the floorboards which I plan to patch. I plan on converting to electric when the motor eventually bites the dust, and getting a pickup camper.

    So, About the 1 Tons...

There is surprisingly little info about the 1 ton models on the internet. Most of what I have seen comes from this forum. I have done quite a bit of searching and found a lot of conflicting info. I have even called several dealers to no avail.

    Here are my questions:

What parts exactly are rated for one ton other than gearing and springs?
How many one tons were produced? (by year, particularly '88)
Has anyone found service manuals for the one tons? (Didnt find anything in the wiki)

my apologies if Im just blind and im missing something obvious here.
Also, the 1988 truck commercial got removed from youtube

If you have a longbed for sale for this truck, please message me.

Any information available would be greatly appreciated. I will be documenting the proccess of restoring this truck both here and on youtube @TheOzarkWizard.

I can fill in a few of the blanks. The 1 ton trucks were imported in the 87 - 89 model years in small numbers to compete with the Toyota and Nissan 1 ton trucks at the time. They were available in other markets for years, just not in the US. The main differences include heavier springs and 4.22 gear end gears with LSD - the only 2wd truck so equipped. The body parts are the same as the regular trucks,so the longbed will fit from a regular truck. Hope this helps.

This helps tremendously, thank you. Do you happen to know where I could find more information on the production numbers?

unfortunately no. Mercedes did a records purge of Chrysler when they took them over, so that Info was lost.
