- Prospector - Prospector was a package available throughout the 1980s that usually included a different fuel tank, cloth seat and carpeting. In the late 80s, a light package as well as the large 6x9 mirrors were added to the list of options. This trim package was carried on until the redesign in 1994

I thought that was a Dodge specific package, for actual Dodge manufactured trucks and Ram Chargers.
My bet is that they just slapped a Prospector decal on there. Pennyman would know for certain, but it would be my first exposure to one.
Uncle Spence -- you could be absolutely right..? My truck is the first Dodge & first Mitsubishi I ever owned so I dunno... The truth about cars link (above) shows photos of a junkyard Ram50 Prospector & at page bottom a Rampage Prospector link...
I was very interested in that Ram50 Prospector overhead, plastic looking, space age, louvered strip along the rear of the headliner... Having an interior light that worked would be nice too...
The prospector was a trim package in 1983 and 1984 on the top of the line Ram 50 trucks. It came with the plastic trim package that covers the metal you usually see in these trucks. This plastic trim was available up to the end of 1986 1st gen trucks in the royal trim in 85 and 86. The back trim piece is decorative and serves no real purpose other than cover the metal frame.
