    Throttle cable insight/ help

So I need to replace my throttle cable since it grounded out on an unknown source between the throttle body and mounting bracket and melted in two. Everything was coming off nicely until I got to the gas pedal. I can't seem to get it to get this little lime green retaining clip thing which is holding the cable to the arm of the pedal. I do not want to break it in fear of not getting a new one with my new cable. Any pointers on removing this sucker, or pointers on what my old cable could have grounded on causing it to melt I half..

It's been a while since I fooled with the throttle cable.

Seems to me the green clip should be attached to a prong...no unscrewing, just tilting it up (or down) and pulling it off.
